Indochina refers to the region southwest of China, in Southeast Asia. Indochina comprises Cambodia, Laos, Brunei, East Timor, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam and the Philippines. These are truly some of the beautiful and unique countries in all of Asia.

Obviously one article alone could not fully encompass the region. However, we will certainly attempt to highlight the best of Indochina!

Bangkok, Thailand is one of the most insane cities you will ever see. Do not wander into the wrong area of town, but if you are careful you could have one of the most adventurous and exciting experience in your life! Phnom Penh will offer you a similar experience, although it is certainly a prettier city by day than Bangkok.

Ho Chi Minh City, prior to the end of the Vietnam war was known as Saigon, and still holds all of the same history and beauty that it had before and during the war. Wandering down the streets during the evening in Jakarta is a magical experience. Luang Prabang is a UNESCO World Heritage City with plenty of temples to keep you mesmerized.

There is so much more than cities however. Bali can be found in Indochina, and it is truly has one of the most gorgeous beaches in the entire world. Borobudur has the biggest Buddhist temple in the world, which is guaranteed to leave you awestruck. You might consider visiting Ha Long Bay to see the rock formations which really do look like a group of dragons.

Perhaps you have always wanted to see a real komodo dragon? Well, the Komodo National Park is the only place in the world you can view one of these monsters. Of course, there is always the temple of Angkor Wat, or even the temple of Preah Vihear.

The best part of Indochina though is how cheap it truly is to travel in the region. You can easily get from country to country by train, bus or airplane. Granted, some of the more remote areas of certain countries – Cambodia for example – are harder to reach. However, there should not be any location in Indochina which cannot be reached at a fraction of the price of travelling in Europe or North America.
